1.) Tell us about your restaurant?
We currently have parlours in the Trafford Centre in Manchester as well as Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush, White City. These parlours are a great representation of the brand we are, being that they are bright, stocked with so many delicious flavours of ice cream and fillings, and you will always be greeted with a welcoming and friendly smile from the team. By bringing Pan-n-Ice to these shopping centres, we are helping bring our tasty ice cream to our customers to enjoy whenever they want.
2.) Tell us about your team.
Although this may sound cliche, Pan-n-Ice really is one big family. Everyone gets to know everyone, whether they work in the Head Office in Notting Hill or the parlours around the UK. We go on team nights out so everyone can have that time outside of work to get to know one another personally, so there’s an element of friendship within our team. I believe this type of relationship amongst us as employees benefits our creativity and passion for our work, because everyone is happy to help one another and bounce ideas around for constructive feedback. Our brand is made up of so many vibrant personalities, there’s never a dull day in the office.
3.) How did you discover your passion for food?
I discovered my passion for food when I was young, but the passion for ice cream rolls specifically came when I was visiting Thailand back in 2015, and when I first discovered the concept of ice cream rolls. Having been lucky enough to travel to multiple countries around the world, it’s so interesting seeing how different cultures cook and the flavours they combine. You get to experience a brand new perspective on food when exploring different country’s delicacies and cuisines.
4.) What’s your most popular ice cream flavour and toppings combo?
Our Eton Mess flavour is definitely a customer favourite at our parlours! With it being such a classic dessert, it was only right to combine it with ice cream. The strawberries and raspberries give the ice cream a natural pink aesthetic, alongside the crunchy taste of merengue. It’s not hard to see why it is one of our more popular flavours. Additionally another bestseller is our GOAT (The Greatest Of All Time) – which is crushed Oreo, Nutella, Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno – all sorts of deliciousness!
5.) What’s your go-to meal?
Simple but it really would have to be an Italian margherita pizza. When the dough is stretched out, all made by hand, wood fired, it just can’t be beaten. However, cereal would definitely be a close second, something like Krave with the chocolate in the middle is definitely another snack I love!
6.) How has the meal kit revenue stream impacted your business?
By bringing out the DIY kits, we have seen a huge increase in customers engaging with us online and wanting to get their hands on one of our kits. Not only this, but we are able to see our customers having a go at making our ice cream rolls at home, having fun and getting involved. We are bringing our parlour experience to those who cannot come and visit us in person, allowing us to connect with a much bigger segment of our audience and we love it!
7.) If you could live off one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be a chocolate fondant pudding. I must eat one of those little pots almost every night of the week! Luckily I love the gym and working out so I always tell myself it balances one another out!
8.) Tell us about your worst experience in the kitchen!
It was probably when we first ever started out running Pan-n-Ice, we were so young and had barely any catering experience. We were at a festival, and to try and make our stand more appealing to everyone, we brought along one of our family member’s tea/coffee machines. There we were trying to look as professional as we could, until a customer came over and asked us for an Americano. We didn’t even know what that was and just told him we only had tea or coffee…he looked at us like we were crazy!
