Banana Bread - Plateaway

Here at Plateaway, it comes as no surprise that we love cooking! Our co-founder Harry is particularly good at baking so we thought it would only be fair to share his incredible chocolate banana bread recipe. Once you try this, you’ll never throw away your ripe bananas again!


  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 4 x small ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda
  • 180g sugar
  • 75g unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Chocolate chips (1 packet)


Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease proof a loaf tin 

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave for around 10-20 seconds
  2. In a bowl, mash the bananas and mix with the eggs, bicarbonate soda, butter, sugar, flour and whisk until smooth
  3. Add the chocolate chips and fold into the batter
  4. Pour the mixture into the loaf tin 
  5. Bake for 60 minutes 
  6. Leave to stand for 10 minutes to cool down
  7. ENJOY!
